Scan images via the network with Windows

Sharing the scanner in the network so that other users can use it is very simple...

First you need to install on your computer that will act as the server daemon saned included in the package sane-utils:

apt-get install sane-utils

and modify the file "/etc/sane.d/saned.conf" inserted as network addresses can access the scanner, for example, 192.168.1.0/24.

Before proceeding to the test scan remotely we need to know how the physical device address, run on the computer where is connected the scanner, the following command:

scanimage -h

the line that interests us is like the following:

...
Options specific to device 'canon:libusb:003:008'
...

now we have everything needed to try a scan from a computer on the network, running:

scanimage -d net:192.168.1.200:canon:libusb:003:008 --format tiff > immagine.tif

You can also use your scanner remotely from Windows, to do this you must download from the site http://sanetwain.ozuzo.net the driver SaneTwain.

The configuration is very simple, just enter the IP address of the computer where you installed the daemon saned.
